Merry Christmas to All, and to All...

...mommies a BIG glass of wine! We did it! We made it through the holiday craziness, and then for that amazing day filled with children's laughter, smiles, and OK, probably a few tears. Just one more week of no school, and back to the old routine. Time to think of a new discipline strategy since that handy elf is headed back to the North Pole, and threats of no Santa probably won't work 12 months out!

Just remember, there are 12 days of Christmas, starting today, so don't rush to get back to normal...enjoy this special time with your children: laugh with them, play with them, and enjoy some things on the Buzz list with them.

We hope you had (or are having) a VERY merry Christmas!!

Blessings,
The Buzz

Almost Here...

Feels like it has been forever since I've posted. Perhaps it's because this has been the LONGEST (but lots of fun, of course) week ever!! Work parties, playgroup parties, preschool parties, ornament exchanges, shopping, wrapping, etc., etc.!! Luckily the shopping's done and this Mommy is heading to the beach for a few days before the real craziness begins. It has been super fun so far watching all 3 children really "get" Christmas this year...both the real meaning, and the Santa stuff. Now that school's out, we hope you can enjoy even more on the Buzz list this week. Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!!

Blessings,
The Buzz

Lights! Lights! Lights!

Week before the week of Christmas...here we go!! We headed out on Friday late afternoon to see some Christmas lights. If you're looking for some good amateur displays, I highly recommend the following:
  • 7400 block of Sherwood Forest Drive, Charlotte, 28226
  • 4019 Lake Charles Way, Indian Trail, 28079 (see video above)
  • 10732 Honeynut Drive, Charlotte, 28277
Sure do wish I had the energy and the passion these folks have. My neighbors would hate me, I'm sure, but my kids loved every minute of our outing!!! Do you know of other houses or neighborhoods to visit? Send the address to queencitybuzz@gmail.com, and we'll post your suggestions on our Facebook Page.

Blessings,
The Buzz

The Countdown is On...Try to Enjoy It!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. I ate my heart out, shopped my heart out, and spent some wonderful time with family and friends. On Friday night, I had a "Mommy-date" with my 4 year old. We sat on the couch, had popcorn, and watched Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas. In the movie, The Man with the Yellow Hat tells George that getting ready for Christmas, the "preparations", are half the fun. You know what? He's right. I'm going to try to slow down this year, and really enjoy the next few weeks of craziness...the cooking, the parties, the smiles on my kids' faces. I hope you'll join in in enjoying the countdown this year. Just check out this week's list...there's SO much to enjoy!!!

    Happy Turkey Day!!

It's Thanksgiving week...are you ready? If you're cooking, The Queen City Buzz is impressed. I just cooked my first turkey ever last week. I am spoiled in the fact that my parents live in the Queen City, too; so it's off to Grandmother's house we go on Thursday (I just bring the appetizer and the broccoli casserole). My biggest worry...the three days of no school...yikes. Not to worry, though, there's a lot to do this week in the Queen City to keep (or get) you and the family in the holiday spirit. And don't forget Black Friday...I'll be one of the crazies shopping at the crack of dawn with my sister, and I CAN'T WAIT!! Happy Thanksgiving y'all!!

    Blessings,
    The Buzz
