Resolution Time...

The new year is upon us...it's resolution time. If getting in shape (or just getting more fresh air or exercise) is on your list, lace up your shoes Saturday morning for the Joe Davis Memorial Resolution Run. Proceeds benefit Keystone Substance Abuse Services, and the race honors a young man that lost his battle with addiction in 2009. There will be lots of family friendly fun at the race including balloons, face painting and a magician. Enjoy a beautiful morning with the family for a worthwhile cause.

We wish for you a 2014 filled with joy, love and laughter...make it a great new year!!

Blessings,
The Buzz

"Favorite Things"...from The Queen City

The Queen City is home to some seriously talented mamas...but I know you all knew that already. At this time of year, when we're all looking for unique gifts for family and friends, I thought I would highlight a few of my "Favorite Things" that are created right here in the Queen City...

http://multipleblessings.net/index.php

Multiple Blessings by Caroline Simas: Talk about talent...Caroline is an amazing Queen City artist. "Multiple Blessings' designs can be found on a variety of home décor, textiles, giftware and much more which are available for purchase worldwide. As a licensed artist and mother of four, Caroline enjoys designing from her home studio in Charlotte, NC. She gathers inspiration from her faith and her family who provide love, support and much of the color and character for her creations."

http://helenskitchen.net/

Helen's Kitchen: Yum, yum, yum...that is all I have to say about that. Helen's cookies are out of this world. "For many years, Helen had dreamed of starting a business in the culinary world and in the past five years she has honed her skills as a baker and has perfected one of America’s favorite desserts – the chocolate chip cookie."
http://www.towneandreese.com/

Towne & Reese: This jewelry is huge nationwide now, but it started right in the Queen City.  "In addition to being friends, mothers and former advertising executives, Christi and Jessica live and breathe fashion and share a common entrepreneurial spirit. After seeing what accessories were missing from their own wardrobes, they decided to design and manufacture memorable pieces that could instantly define and transform a look without making a serious financial investment."

http://www.cocoonies.com/#
Cocoonies: Infant carrier car seats are HEAVY, and super heavy with an infant inside. And since we always need our hands, new mommies tend to carry said car seats on their arm. Cocoonies make that carrying a comfortable experience. "Cocoonies™ offer superior cushioning and are made from exceptional quality materials.  All colors are also made from durable corduroy. "
http://www.twineandtwigstyle.com/#!home/mainPage
Twine & Twig: Sisters Elizabeth & Jacquelyn make amazing jewelry for adults and children right here in the QC. "With quality craftsmanship and incredible attention to detail, every Twine & Twig piece is one of a kind, handcrafted & designed by the two sisters. Each necklace is hand tied with their signature suede strap, and features unique and naturally sourced eco-friendly materials from regions throughout the world."

These amazing mamas are not only talented, but are very giving, and they are GIVING AWAY some of their products this week to Queen City Buzz readers!! All giveaways will take place on our Facebook Page, so don't miss out. One giveaway daily (except Wednesday when there are 2) at 9pm!

Tuesday: Multiple Blessings Tervis Tumbler
Wednesday: Helen's Kitchen Craft Gift Box (13 cookies) & Towne & Reese $50 Gift Certificate
Thursday: Cocoonies - Original Cocoonie
Friday: Twine & Twig Horse Hair Tassel (adult), and Twine & little Twig (kid).

It's going to be a great week in the Queen City!!

Blessings,
The Buzz

Be a GOOD cookie, find some GREAT holiday gifts, and a GIVEAWAY...

https://www.facebook.com/events/400029063455971

Sadly, Charlotte lost one of its "Best Cookies" last week when Grier Christenbury lost his 7 year battle with neuroblastoma at age 9. He and his family were, and are, an inspiration to this city, and this world. This Saturday and Sunday is the Cookies for Kids Cancer Bake Sale, and Grier would want this sale to be HUGE, so let's make it that way! Head out Saturday or Sunday (or BOTH for crying out loud) and get yourself some treats in Grier's honor. Multiple locations of the bake sale this year for your sweet-tooth satisfaction.
After you have your Saturday sugar fix (or before), head to Christ Episcopal Church on Providence Road for their annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday morning, 9:30am-1pm. From the folks behind the bazaar:
The 2013 Annual ECW Christmas Bazaar is right around the corner! We will have wonderful vendors, fantastic handcrafted gifts, fabulous holiday greenery, and delicious homemade foods to get you in the Christmas spirit.
Authors of "The Welcoming House" and "My Secret Angel and Me" will be on site for book signings.  A “My Secret Angel and Me” reading will take place at 10 am – so bring the kids!  The Good News Shop will also be open during the Bazaar hosting a Collared Greens trunk show!
All proceeds will benefit ECW outreach efforts.  We hope to see you there!

Also, Charlotte Warehouse Sale is having a HUGE liquidation event this Thursday through Sunday, where over 3,000 items will be reduced an additional 50%! The best news? One lucky Buzz reader will win a $25 gift certificate to the event. Head over to our Facebook Page and enter between Monday morning, and Wednesday at 12noon.

Blessings,
The Buzz

It's On Y'all...

The Christmas Countdown that is. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY., at least one of my children asks "How many days until Christmas". I could answer in the thousands, and they'd still ask every day. We've already visited Santa at the mall. Last night we had dinner at Piedmont Row and marveled that all of the lights were up...wreaths, the center tree, the big tree in the Piedmont Natural Gas building. Today my four year old boy looked longingly at all of the ENORMOUS Christmas inflatables in Wal-Mart, and Christmas tree lots are starting to take shape on every corner! It's coming y'all...and fast...38, 37, 36, 35, 34...

Blessings,
The Buzz
